Two-Week Final Exam Study Plan You Can Run on iPhone
Countdown study schedule for finals: prioritize weak classes, daily time blocks, active review methods, and sleep rules without cramming every night.
Finals compress a semester into a few days. A 14-day plan on your phone turns panic into a sequence: what to study, when, and when to stop. The goal is passing with recall, not heroic all-nighters that erase memory.
Day 0: inventory (60 minutes)
List every final with date, time, room, and format (multiple choice, essay, practical).
For each class, gather:
- Syllabus grading weights
- Past exams or practice if the professor shared them
- Notes gaps you already know about
Rank classes by risk: low grade plus high exam weight goes to the top of the calendar.
Days 1 to 2: triage each course
Per class, write three columns:
| Must know | Should know | Nice to know |
|---|---|---|
| Core formulas, definitions, rubric themes | Secondary topics | Rare edge cases |
Study time hits Must know first every day. Nice to know fills only after Must is shaky.
Days 3 to 12: daily block template
A realistic student day might include:
- 90 minutes hardest final (morning if possible)
- 60 minutes second priority
- 45 minutes third or review
- 20 minutes flashcards or quiz apps for active recall
- One full evening off mid-plan (protect sleep)
Put blocks in your planner as named tasks (“Chem: acids practice set”) not “study chem.”
Active review beats rereading
Rotate methods:
- Closed-book summary of one lecture
- Practice problems without notes, then check
- Teach the topic aloud in two minutes
- Mix old quizzes if available
Highlighting alone feels productive and scores poorly. Mix retrieval practice every session.
Spacing rule
Touch each high-risk subject every 48 hours even for 30 minutes. Cramming one subject for eight hours then ignoring it for five days loses retention.
Alternate subjects within a day when finals are back-to-back.
Essay finals: outline bank
For likely essay prompts, prepare five bullet outlines with thesis and two evidence pieces each. Do not memorize full essays; memorize structure.
Schedule one timed outline (25 minutes) three days before the exam.
Multiple choice: error log
When practice questions miss, log:
- Topic
- Why you missed (misread, forgot rule, careless math)
Review the error log the night before that exam only for that class.
Sleep and food non-negotiables
- 7+ hours sleep before morning finals when possible
- Caffeine cutoff you already know works for you
- Protein breakfast vs sugar crash
All-nighters trade tomorrow’s cognition for tonight’s anxiety.
Day before each exam
- Light review of Must know only
- Pack materials (ID, calculator, charger if allowed)
- Confirm time zone if online proctored
- Stop studying 90 minutes before sleep
Exam day morning
- Skim one-page cheat sheet you wrote yourself
- No new topics
- Arrive or log in early for in-person tech checks
After each final
Archive notes you will need for next term. Log the grade when posted. One paragraph: what study method worked for that format?
If you are behind on day 5
Cut Nice to know everywhere. Halve Should know to topics that appeared on past tests. Ask professors or TAs one specific question about scope rather than “what’s on the test?”
A shorter honest plan beats a beautiful plan you abandon.
Quick 14-day checklist
- All exam dates in calendar with reminders
- Must know list per class
- Daily named study blocks scheduled
- Practice retrieval every session
- Sleep protected two nights before each final
Your phone holds the schedule. You still do the thinking.
